膝关节肿大属膝关节滑膜炎。膝关节滑膜是人体关节中面积最广、最复杂的，也是形成最大的滑膜腔，由于膝关节负重大，运动多，最易受到损伤。

膝关节肿大是由什么原因引起的？
在受各种病因(如骨质增生、关节炎、关节结核、风湿病等和创伤性外伤、骨伤、关节内损伤、周围软组织损伤、手术等)刺激或直接刺激滑膜损伤产生炎症反应，引起充血或水肿，并且渗出液体。

膝关节肿大应该如何诊断？
其主要表现关节充血肿胀，疼痛，渗出增多，关节积液，活动下蹲困难，功能受限。

膝关节肿大容易与哪些症状混淆？
膝关节疼痛：老寒腿的主要症状，多为膝关节疼痛。反复发作、久治不愈的腿部(多为膝关节)酸麻疼痛，统称为老寒腿。
膝关节积液：滑膜炎是临床常见病，主症是膝关节积液。
膝关节内侧肿胀青紫，局部剧痛：在多数有膝关节遭受突然外翻或旋转外力的外伤史，韧带断裂后，一般地膝关节内侧显著肿胀，局部发生剧痛，皮下淤血，青紫。
膝关节肿胀积血：是膝关节半月板损伤的诊断要点之一。膝关节半月板损伤是膝关节的常见疾患。半月板位于胫骨关节面上，有内侧和外侧半月形状骨。

膝关节肿大应该如何预防？
本病的预防最主要是要防止关节损伤，运动前应注意多做准备运动，另外由于滑膜在长期慢性炎症过程中，则可逐渐增厚，影响滑液的正常代谢，故为浆液性积液，且可发生纤维化而引起关节粘连，影响正常活动，因此适当做膝关节的伸屈活动，多做下肢肌肉的静力性肌紧强练习，加强股四头肌的锻炼，一般不会发生膝关节活动功能障碍。
